Because....U R A REBEL

Twoot Your Rebel Horn!

Twoot Your Rebel Horn is a focus interactive which aims to gain insight and shine a spotlight on the special parts of us that make us wholly unique from one another. Sharing your thoughts with Rebel helps us improve our brand and gain a better understanding of what's important to women on a variety of spirited ideals.

Twoot encourages introspection, self-awareness and self-empowerment.

A Rebel Geisha is the master of her own discourse, a symbol of strength, a projection of self-empowerment and a female samurai who strives to inspire others. For me, Rebel Geisha is a fabulous acronym for the traits I admire and what fuels my creativity. In the simplest of definitions, Rebel equates with Freedom and Geisha literally means Artist. Freedom and Artist are the two things that tenaciously underline my life and impacts how I view and interact with the world.

Can you pick two words that defines who you are today or who you aspire to be?

I like to wonder..wonder about the world I wish to live in. I dream of fantastical places I'd luv to see and ponder about past eras that have helped shape, inspire and teach us about our world today, as well as tomorrow. I am naturally a very curious person.

The life of a Geisha is a complicated and adorned culture I find fascinating. I'm taken to a time and place completely foreign to me but yet I find similarities between our distant lives. A Geisha's life is profoundly regimented and structured and that kind of fortitude appeals to me. I imagine this lifelong pursuit requires great willpower, desire, strength and a determination to succeed. It's an enduring life, a life spent training to become a most loved and sought after Geisha. This is usually from childhood to death for some Geishas. Imagine....

As someone who shares some commonalities with Geisha life, I'm impressed by the strength of their dedication, the richness for attention to details and a lifelong pursuit of happiness, stature, and security.

Rebel wants to know:  What cultural lifestyle do you find fascinatingly contrary to your own?

Completing a great look requires a few choice accessories. A little bling goes a long way when defining your style and individuality.

For me, stellar style choices are elevated greatly with a complimentary accessory such as a belt/waist cincher, jewelry, and other fabulous touches of your personal style. (see blog post on waist cinchers).
One of my favorite accessories, besides Rebel, are my rings. I'm not exactly sure what that says about me but by engaging in this focus, I will most likely come across the answer.

Everything we adorn ourselves with speaks a silent language; relaying details about who we are through style & fashion. We choose these little items of delight carefully and they must be versatile enough to be paired with more than one of the great items in our closet.
What are your 2 favorite accessories?

Rebel Geisha Belts are a fabulous match for a lot of vintage dresses, mostly due to how the garment shapes the female form. Whether it's  A-Line or Pencil, most vintage dresses possess a most attractive look and style that makes us feel feminine, beautiful and desirable. They are usually very fitted troughout the empire waist area, and mid section. In previous decades, the smaller the waist appeared, the better.
Rebel wants to gift a complimentary belt to you to complete your look! Enter a photo donning your favourite vintage garb and you could win. The winner will be drawn at random and will receive a bespoke designed complimentary belt.

Is Toronto too conservative when it comes to fashion? If you took a good look at your wardrobe could you pick out an unconventional item that you love and feel comfortable wearing in public despite what people think?  And if so, what drives your personal style?

I pose the question because I feel as if we, on a whole, ride whatever fashion wave that's presented to us as 'in' or 'now'...even if it was 'never-liked-the-first-time-around, of questionable quality and fabrics or simply doesn't compliment most women's body type.

And having a good understanding of your body type is the key to finding and purchasing items that you can venture into society looking and feeling confident.

And sure, fashion adheres to the same business model as any other living thing....from the thrill of newness to fading in old age and inevitably a quiet and painless death, but like a zombie, fashion,  sometimes be it unflattering, is resurrected.

When you compare the world 's stage in the fashion industry we see a huge exploratory gap in style and fashion. We have underlined conservative in our fashion history. But why is that? Share your thoughts.

Throughout the ages, women have adorned themselves with items that reflect their culture, spirituality, status and personal taste. It's always been important that we, as individuals, set and maintain an emotional investment into how we present ourselves. We have placed monumental faith into those who decide what we should wear and for the most part, we submit, for a variety of reasons. But are we always conscious of how much influence fashion targeted marketing and the media have on how/where we shop?  If the answer to this is no, then are you truly expressing your own unique individuality?

How much influence do marketed trends & the media have on how/what you purchase?
